Diablo Shores Pro Am
September 21-23

Last event of the season! After several big disappointments and some tough breaks I was praying to end on a positive note, and God answered my prayer. The Diablo Shores format consists of 3 record rounds of skiing, and they take your top 2 scores from the three rounds, average them together, and then they take the top 8 women to a head to head final. Throughout the tournament I maintained a position in the top 3 or 4 women, and was matched against April Coble for my first to head to head. In my head to head against April I ran 2 ½ at 39off (10.75 meters), which would be the highest score of all the women for the entire event! After winning my first head to head against April, I ran back down to the dock and immediately skied against Natalie Hamrick, unfortunately my head was spinning after my big score and I missed 35off, not smart….more experience points I hope for the future…I will not do that again! I ended up 4th in the Diablo Shores Pro Am and finally walked away with the decent check. I felt better about this finish and happy with my big score, but at the same time I know that I am capable of so much more out there. When I came around 3 ball at 39off I did not feel late or out of shape at all….I know I am capable of running that pass and winning some big events, and with time and experience I think it will happen. I am going to keep pushing forward and just try to keep the faith for next season!

This event was a great step forward for women’s slalom and I am so excited that Greg Badal, the tournament organizer added women’s slalom to the event this year. Thank you Greg and Debbie for all of your hard work! They put on an amazing event, and I hope to be back next year!
