July 2nd and 3rd French Masters (Lacaneau, France)
After two rather disappointing weekends I was ready for a great one to lift me back up! I had been training very well in practice and felt that my tough mental outlook in practice would help me in tournament. I had trained in England most of the week at Tallington Water Ski Club, which is my boyfriend Glenn’s home training site. Talllington will be my training place too until the World Championships in mid-August. We arrived in France on Thursday and went out to Lacaneau lakes
with Glenn Campbell
the training ground of top female slalom skier Geraldine Jamin. Friday morning Glenn and I both went out for a practice set at the lake. I skied really well in practice, running 38 off my first try with little effort. I felt strong and ready for the tournament the next day!
My nerves really began rising before the event in part because of my previously unsuccessful tournaments. I began doubting my ability that is obviously there because
with Natalie Hamrick-Halt
I do it in practice everyday. I skied cautious and nervous and messed up again, which meant I would not make the finals on Sunday. I was devastated, but after being upset for a little while I made my mind up that I will beat my nerves. When I do I will be at the top again and everyone better watch out!
